About ME AND MY MISSION!
Hello, I’m Patrick Higgins, the guy behind this site. I'd like to tell you a little story of how I went native.
Crazy as it sounds, it all started as a young boy, around age 11, when my dad gave me free reign to do what I wanted with a garden.
Granted, it was just a square garden outlined with creosote-coated railroad ties. Hey, it was something right? I decided I wanted to plant 4 rows of 4 plants each. Of daylillies.
I was only 11 but, man, I had that whole “plant it in lines” and use the same non-native plant thing down. You know, kind of like almost every yard you still drive by to this day and this was back in 1981!
This was the beginning of my native journey and my evolution to what I really hope I can inspire you to do on your property.
